Microsoft released the first Xbox in 2001, followed a few years later by the Xbox 360. One of the most popular gaming consoles of its time, the Xbox 360 integrated a Kinect camera to play interactive games – including noughties slumber party classic, Just Dance.

In 2013, the third generation of Xbox consoles was released: dubbed the Xbox One, it was an initial failure. But a new model – without a CD drive, and marketed as a TV hub utility – was more successful. The latest iteration of the console is the Xbox Series X, launched in 2020 alongside its (more affordable) little brother, Xbox Series S.
