It was during the 1980s that gaming moved away from early, more general-purpose computers and towards consoles built for the purpose. The likes of Nintendo’s NES and SNES, and Sega’s Master System and Mega Drive, were standard items in the living rooms and bedrooms of the time, and propelled gaming into the global obsession it is today.
